The Fon du Lac Park District Police has a 30’ Monark boat equipped for quick response to incidents on the river. The department also operates a 26’ Ribcraft Response boat. Both vessels are equipped with VHF/UHF radios, a Starcom radio, night vision equipment, and defibrillator.

The Fon du Lac Park District Police are proud to announce that they have added a new member to the police department. Through a generous contribution of funds by Obrien Brothers Inc., and donations collected during the Festival of Lights, the Fon du Lac Park District Police have obtained a K-9 Unit for the department. “Zoey” is a dual-purpose Belgian Malinois dog. This means she will be able to detect ten types of narcotics (marijuana, hashes, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, black tar heroin, ecstacy, LSD, methamphetamine, and methamphetamine ice). When Zoey detects any of these narcotics, she will have a “passive-alert,” to avoid any possible property damage. Zoey will also be patrol certified. This means she will be able to track missing suspects, and lost or missing persons. In addition, Zoey will be able to apprehend suspects and clear buildings, thus increasing the overall safety of our officers.

Officer Kevin Obrien will be the K-9 Officer for our department. Both he and Zoey have been fully trained and certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board since March. Our K-9 Team will be available to assist all agencies in Central Illinois.
